すごい (sugoi) has been my go-to phrase in Japanese ever since I learned it- I heard it being used a LOT in Tokyo and on Japanese TV shows
This word feels so expressive and positive to me. Sometimes now I just say すごい! Instead of ‘awesome!’ in English because it’s so much more enthusiastic (but only with my other Japanese learning friends of course!)
