Coming up to the completing the HSK3/3+ lessons. I will be taking a bit of time off to organise my notes and hopefully move on to HSK 4/4+. I took the HSK3/3+ lessons in completely random order fitting it around my free time.

how important to learning is following the lesson order at HSK4/4+? What do the teachers advise?

what are the realistic numbers of lessons required in getting through HSK4/4+? How many extra classes above 100 classes have people taken at HKS4/4+ before moving on to HSK5?
I’ve taken at least 2x the classes at each level, or close to before moving on. That being said, I didn’t really study the notes after class. I think if I spent more time studying I’d take less of the classes. it’s also good to just keep practicing conversation (much of the reason I kept taking classes).
the HSK series gets exponentially larger in vocab as it increases, so don’t expect your speed through each series to keep a steady pace

Each lesson follows a different topic, and it finishes within 60 mins, so I would say it’s not too important to follow the order. However, for review lessons, you need to make sure you studied all the topics before so you have enough vocabularies and sentence structure to practice with teachers. My advice is to take all topics first and leave review lessons at the end.
If you have time to review lessons after class, taking once each lesson is enough. For free speaking lessons on HSK4+, you can take several times per lesson, as in these lessons, you and your teacher will discuss freely around the given topic. So with the same starting point, with different teachers, you may end up direct the conversation to different subtopic
