Mid-Autumn Festival + Golden Week || 'Tis The Season

Plenty of holidays coming up in Asia.

Mid-Autumn Festival / Chuseok || Celebrated in China / Korea. I believe they’ll be many mooncakes shared across the continent

Golden Week || One of the biggest holidays in China, and one of the busiest on the roads, trains and planes.

Japan also has a few days off and Vietnam is currently celebrating Independence Day as we speak. Lots of fun and festivities.

Does anyone have any plans for these holidays yet?

Eat a lot of food with friends and discovering new mooncakes flavour

Because Philadelphia has such a large Asian community, we celebrate most major Asian holidays — but on a distinctively Philadelphia calendar.

The major mid-Autumn celebration this year will be on Saturday, September 21 in “Downtown Chinatown” – 10th Street in Center City. 10th Street is the home of Philadelphia’s famous “Friendship Gate” – a gift from our sister city, Tianjin.

Yes, we eat moon cakes! Many stores and restaurants have them sent direct from China.

In Vietnam, we buy mooncakes to send to friends and relatives. Many companies also give mooncakes to employees. Each country has its own way of making mooncakes, and this is how Vietnamese mooncakes look.

I like that! Allows more people to get involved.

Send us some pics

If you decide to come to Philadelphia to eat some mooncakes, the Festival area is easy to find. Just look for the arch.
