Recently, we transitioned to a new videoconferencing platform to replace Zoom due to policy changes and connection issues in China. Since the platform is newly implemented, some students may experience technical issues. This post will guide you through the most common ones:
Microphone issues on MacBook : you will need to allow your computer to access audio on the new videoconferencing platform
If any of these (or other issues) are impacting your class experience, please feel free to email us at [email protected] to request a refund. Including screenshots or pictures of any error messages would be even more helpful. We understand how frustrating it can be to deal with tech issues, and we’re committed to resolving them quickly to make your learning smooth!
Thank you and we will see if there is a way to work around this. Please keep giving feedback. In case of any problems, please share which exact class (the topic and teacher name) it was for. We go through each and every issue and are fixing them one by one.
Thanks, can you let us know for which class this happened and where you are based?
With which functionalities did you have issues?
We tried it many times and for us usually the connection is as good or better (especially if you or your teacher is in China) then Zoom, but it does seem to depend on internet connection and location. Let us check the server closest to you and we will see what we can do.
I’m in the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania USA region. I’m usually signing on in the evening local time. (1900 or 2000)
I use an older PC running Windows 10, and the new software has been installed as a browser extension on my Chrome-based browser, Brave. The connection quality varies over the course of the hour. I see quite a bit of lag in MY video. I didn’t notice this happening when we were using Zoom for class.
Hello
Do you know if there is an option to maximize the window to see only the class in the screen? I think it is easier when it is an app or installed programme but for browser isn’t.
Also I am not sure if the teacher can see our faces, can they?
Thanks
No need to install an app; you can just drag the line separate learning material and camera to minimize or maximize the screen.
Teachers have floating cameras, so yes, they can see students faces.
