Get to use the target language in real life

It is true that the best way to be fluent in a language is to use it. I live in a so-called “Japanese town” in Ho Chi Minh City where there are many Japanese restaurants, coffee shops and bars around. But I think it would be really awkward to go there and try to have a talk with the natives.

So … I ended up sitting quietly and practicing by reading Cinderella in Japanese. :joy:

What are your ways to practice speaking the language? Please share.

I never saw the Japanese town in HCMC before, Tram. Where is it located exactly?

Reading kids books is nice! Always colourful, engaging and easy to follow, especially if you know it’s a famous story like Cinderella!

When I meant Japanese town is not the same like Chinese Town where they build their unique cultural features inside a foreign country.

What I meant is a place where a lot of Japanese live or hang out. One is Ward 19, Bình Thạnh District (where LTL Vietnam is located) and one is Thai Van Lung Street in District 1. Both are in Ho Chi Minh City.
