Flexi Classes - Change to new videoconferencing platform

We’ve been receiving feedback from students regarding various issues with Jitsi. While not everyone was affected, certain regions experienced recurring problems. After researching and testing with different video conferencing platforms, we’ve recently launched a new system that we believe will resolve most of these issues.

The new platform officially went live on April 4. As this is the first phase of the transition, there may still be some technical bugs. For example, you might be redirected to the old platform, or the class link may not appear correctly. If you experience anything unusual like this, please don’t hesitate to email us at [email protected]. We’ll refund credits and work to resolve the issue right away.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience during this transition and truly hope the new platform brings a more stable and reliable experience for all students.

What are the general experience with the new Flexi Classes video platform? We have heard good feedback from students, but would love to hear more experience shares about connection quality etc. especially when compared to the previous software used.

Quick update on the new video conferencing platform. We already fixed all the existing bugs

Tried it for the first time yesterday with the teacher in mainland China. The picture seems clearer, the audio was fine and stable. Had some trouble with trying to find the chat box to type a message.

I tried another lesson at 2300 Beijing time on a weekday. In the past, I have found the connections a bit difficult, presumably because of the firewall.

Somehow, I found the icon to open chat box much faster this time.

Video was stable.

Sound was inconsistent - sometimes the teacher couldn’t hear me at all even though the video was stable. We had to log out and log back in - only once though.

Thank you for letting us know. China puts restrictions on most foreign websites, so some teachers living in China will be affected, and they will need a VPN for this. We will contact that teacher to support he/she with the connection

Can’t wait to try the new platform!

I usually log in from home and don’t have any problems connecting to my online class. But today, I had to sign in from work and I couldn’t get the new conferencing platform to work. My teacher was there and could hear me, but I couldn’t see anything or hear anything. After trying everything I could think of, I downloaded a different web browser and was able to log in – but of course, by then, my teacher had left. If there is a requirement to use a particular browser to log in, it should be stated somewhere.

I’m sorry to hear about the problem. Which browser did you use? And can you send me the lesson name?

At the office, we use the Brave browser. My teacher could hear me, but I couldn’t hear her or see anything. Everything connects if you use the Chrome browser. These problems occurred when I tried to load the lesson “Train to Hangzhou” (course #23268) on Wednesday, 21 June, at 1400 EDT (US).

I see. Our videoconferencing platform works best on commonly used browsers like Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and Safari. Less common browsers may cause unexpected issues, so you’re doing the right thing by switching. Those three are the safest options.

I’ve just refunded the credit for this class, so you can go ahead and reschedule it at a time that works for you.
