First Korean Conversation

Just sharing a small win I had with Korean this week.

I had my first, genuine, unplanned conversation with a local whereby I understood probably 80% of what was said and could reply with fair comfort.

Great feeling because listening is my definite weakness at this stage.

I played around with some mock TOPIK I exams yesterday and I’ve found the reading quite straightforward but when listening, even at a slow pace, I’m nowhere near yet.

Steady progress but after 6 months working full-time in Korea (in and out), I can start to do things and engage with locals.

Hope this proves as motivation to others.

Likewise any Korena experts, tips most welcome!

These days I always stumble over Korean things. I am watching a Kor
ean series with English subtitles, and read the Chinese version of a Korean book…which I want to recommend. Probably you have already noticed Puuung?

I hope this link works for you, it is only for people living in South Korea.
“Love is…” with wonderful drawings about the daily life of a young couple. Might be a good read to cheer up after a long workday.
