When I first started learning Mandarin, I used to watch very basic cartoons in Chinese and trust me, it works! I used to binge watch Peppa Pig on Youtube, the words they use are easy but also very useful for an everyday use and the story plot is so simple that is basically impossible not to understand!

Started watching K Foodie Meets J Foodie on Netflix.

A Korean and Japanese bonding over their love of food.

Great watch, amazing food and nice to compare Japanese and Korean nuances. The show is spoken in Japanese with bits of Korean in there too.

It’s a really wholesome watch

Watch here.

Good news if you enjoy learning languages with a view :eyes: Physical 100 will be returning in 2025 as Physical: Asia!

Could be a good chance to practice a few languages at once. I’m definitely hoping for some Mandarin speakers in this season!

I’m not a big fan of TV shows but super recommend Running man for anyone who is studying Korean! Yes it is a LEGENDARY show and everyone knows that but after studying Korean, I found the language in the show was accurate and easy to use in daily life as well

Anyone watched the latest Korean craze - When Life Gives You Tangerines?

I started to watch yesterday but I’m not sure it’s my thing! Change my mind

Season 2 of the Devil’s Plan is out already !! Who’s watched it? :raising_hand_woman: (I finished everything so fast)

Yes yes yes!! Watched the first 4 episodes and I believe the next 5 are out today

I normally complain Korean TV shows are just wayyyy too long but in this case I love it.

The games leave my head spinning so you need the time to truly abssorb how to play them!

Thanks so much for the list. It’s really helpful. I’m not usually a fan of movies or TV shows, but I think it’s time I start watching one or two Chinese shows to help improve my Chinese. Do all of them have English subtitles?

Yes they all have English subtitles. I use Language Reactor on Netflix, which shows the subtitles in pinyin, hanzi, and English.

7 episodes in and hooked! Great season with so much going on

I’m only 6 episodes in but I can’t wait to see the rest of the games! The episodes are so long I have to watch then in separate parts, but I would say season 2 is better than season 1

I LOVED both seasons of Devil’s Plan! I think season 2 was slightly more flawed in the set up though - once you’re in prison you’re basically stuck there forever without the chance to redeem yourself (with that one exception). Also spoiler I was so sad about Justin and 7High (that colour card betting game was so badly designed/ easy to manipulate) - but overall still loved the show and hoping for a season 3!

I think it can be helpful to learn some Korean phrases when players interact with each other, especially before and after the games, but the game introductions/rules are wildly complicated so no chance for me there :joy:

I learn English by bing watching Friends :joy:

In Korea, there was a shed load of hate for Kyuhyun (sp?).

It seems the locals really sided with the 3 way alliance of 7-high, Eun Yu and Kang Ji.

I was surprised just how deep the critics go in Korea!!

Good choice, easy to follow and lots of slang.

I’ve heard so many people study English with Friends
