Hello,
What is the best online site to learn Mandarin Chinese?
Thanks!
You can have a look at Flexi Classes for Mandarin course with native teachers: Sign Up and Get Started with Flexi Classes | Flexi Classes
The system offers you the option to book classes with native teachers 24/7, focusing mainly on speaking and listening.
You also have the option to take free classes for 7 days to try it out and see if it suits you.
Hi, thanks for posting and welcome to the forum. Some other resources bar Flexi Classes I like:
Skritter || Great for practicing and memorising character recognition
Du Chinese || Ideal for reading and short stories
Hack Chinese || Cramming and memorising characters
Lingodeer || Probably one of the better apps on your phone for learning (streets clear of Duo)
I had a great experience with Flexi Classes. It’s in the name of course, but the structure is super flexible. Sometimes I’d take one class a week, occasionally I did sprints of one class every day for a week. You can do what works for you and the teachers were always very patient with me and gave me plenty of examples and corrections ![]()
If you wanted some free supplementary materials alongside your classes, you can check out:
The Chinese Grammar Bank:
The LTL Chinese YouTube channel:
Aside from this forum, there are also Chinese language learner communities on Reddit too:

Best of luck!
There isn’t one single “best” site, but a few popular options are:
HelloChinese: one of the best apps. It teaches pronunciation, characters, listening, and grammar step by step and is designed specifically for Mandarin learners.
Duolingo: good for building basic vocabulary and practicing every day with short lessons.
ChinesePod: great if you want to improve listening with lessons based on real conversations.
Using a mix of apps + listening practice usually works best.
Bringing this one back to life. What are people using to study Chinese these days?
I still stick with Flexi classes and use Du Chinese for practicing reading, very simple, but that’s what I learnt from my mistake that I use so many apps at the same time, seemed productive, but took forever to start
I guess a lot of people are using AI to support their learning these days, in addition to attending classes with teachers
I’ve been using Flexi Classes to learn Chinese and Japanese for over two years now and I’ve had a great experience with both languages
